Wrexham ace Elliot Lee was rushed to hospital following a car crash after Tuesday night’s victory over Bolton. The son of ex-Charlton and Newcastle player Rob, Lee escaped serious harm in the two-car smash, with both drivers needing hospital checks.

The club released a statement confirming: “Wrexham AFC can confirm that last night, after the Vertu Trophy match against Bolton Wanderers, a first-team player (Elliot Lee) was involved in a road traffic incident when returning home.

“The incident involved one other car and resulted in the drivers of both cars being taken to hospital. Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the Club would like to thank them for their prompt response and action.”

The Mirror reports Lee sustained no major injuries, but the other driver is receiving treatment. No further comments will be made at this time by the club.

Lee played 63 minutes in the game against Wanderers which ended in a 1-0 win due to Andy Cannon’s goal. Lee has been pivotal for manager Phil Parkinson’s side, contributing to the side with seven goals and three assists in 23 starts.

Since joining Wrexham in 2022, he’s made a remarkable 134 appearances, netted 39 times, and has been instrumental in their fairy-tale rise from the National League to League One over consecutive seasons.

Beginning his career at West Ham, he then had stints with Barnsley, Luton, Oxford United and Charlton Athletic before joining Wrexham. Wrexham, now under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are aiming for a third consecutive promotion this season and currently sit third in League One.
