A body of a woman was discovered yesterday at the bottom of cliffs at a beauty hub in Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.55pm on Saturdaym February 8, after receiving reports of a body being found at the bottom of cliffs in Porthtowan.

The ambulance and coastguards were also called. The body was recovered to the beach by lifeboat.

The unidentified woman is thought to be in her 20s from the Turo area and described as slim and white with dark hair. The woman was dressed in black, including her shoes, and wearing trousers, a top and a lightweight coat with a red handbag.

Her death is being treated as unexplainedn and is not believed to be suspicious. Formal identification has yet to take place and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Devon and Cornwall police are now urging anyone who has any information about the woman or who may have witnessed a woman at the cliffs at the time of the incident to get in touch.

A force spokesperson said: “Anybody who witnessed a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan between the afternoon of Friday, February 7 and the afternoon of Saturday, February 8 is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250033859.

“The female in question was described as being a white female, appearing to be in her late teens/early 20s of slim build with dark hair and wearing black shoes, black trousers, a black top and a lightweight black coat. She was carrying a red handbag.”
