BEAVER DAM, Wis. (WBAY/Gray News) – An Amber Alert issued for a pregnant teenager who is believed to be with a 40-year-old man has been extended to include more states.
Sophia Franklin, 16, was last seen Feb. 2 at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She is three months pregnant.
Authorities believe she is with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, who is the father of Sophia’s unborn child. He was last seen at Sophia’s home on Feb. 3 at 7:48 a.m.
Day and Sophia have a no-contact order.
The Amber Alert is active in Wisconsin, Arkansas and was extended to Missouri Wednesday. It lists Boone, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Pettis, and Saline counties as notification regions.
Sophia is a white female. She is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 186 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes.
According to WBAY, Sophia’s mother sent out some more information that wasn’t in the original Amber Alert, in the hopes of finding her daughter:
- She is wearing glasses.
- She does not look pregnant right now.
- She has been dealing with hives on her arms, legs, and even face.
- Her eye makes an involuntary movement when she chews.
- She has been struggling with morning sickness.
- She has been wearing a rose gold ring with a pink, heart-shaped gem on her left hand.
Sophia’s mother also shared a new photo, a picture with Sophia in glasses, which is from Feb. 1, 2025.
“In short, Sophie needs to come home and continue with the medical care she has been receiving for herself and the baby,” Franklin’s mother said in an email to press on Wednesday.
Day is a white male with blonde hair and green eyes. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds.
Day and Sophia are believed to be traveling in the 2014 black Buick LaCrosse with various license plates. This vehicle was seen last Tuesday morning in Wisconsin with a Pennsylvania license plate KGW5186, according to Beaver Dam police.
Previously, they were believed to be traveling in a 2014 model black Buick LaCrosse with an out-of-state license plate BBR 20L.
Law enforcement thinks they might have headed south and said Day changed license plates on the car at least once.
The FBI is also involved in the search for Sophia. The agency issued a statement Wednesday:
