A Cumbernauld supermarket has given a generous cash boost to help young performers from a local theatre group shine.
SPAR Condorrat, on Main Road, has kindly supported Shakespeare’s Kids with a donation through its SPAR Stars initiative of over £500.
The money will go towards funding to help young performers in the community receive recognition for their achievements at the group’s upcoming ‘Oscars’ event.
The donation was presented outside the store, where young performers and store representatives gathered for the cheque presentation.
Store owner, Wendy Stephen, said: “This is an initiative we started back in 2012, for every carrier bag sold we give the profits back into the community.
“We are a small family business with four generations in and it was always a great belief of my grandmother’s that your community support you therefore you return the favour.”
SPAR Condorrat, a valued Snappy Shopper partner, continues to serve the local community both in-store and through home delivery, making it easier for customers to shop locally.
Shakespeare’s Kids expressed their gratitude for the support, stating that the donation will go a long way in making their Oscars event a “truly special occasion”.
