Scottish Hollywood star Gerard Butler visited Perthshire’s Glenalmond College last week during the Doddie Grand Tour 2025 cycling fundraiser.

The star of films including Tomorrow Never Dies, Olympus Has Fallen, and 300 made the visit during the cyclists’ overnight stop at the college.

The actor is a friend of former Scotland rugby captain and Glenalmond alumni Rob Wainwright who organised the 700-mile cycling challenge.

The tour has raised more than £550,000 for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation which honours the legacy of rugby legend Doddie Weir to raise vital funds for MND research.

Glenalmond College warden Mark Mortimer said: “We are immensely proud of Rob and everyone involved in the Doddie Grand Tour, in particular, our own team of pupils and staff.

“This challenge embodies the values of resilience, teamwork, and community – core principles we nurture here at Glenalmond.

“It’s been an honour to support this cause and watch our young people gain such a valuable experience.”

The college was the overnight stop for all the teams and offered them all much-needed rest and refreshments ahead of day three and one of the Tour’s toughest segments—the gruelling 5.3-mile, 1,185-foot climb at Glenshee.

The Glenalmond College team was the only one to include current pupils, and they joined the 30 other teams for the final stretch in Edinburgh on Saturday, where cheering crowds lined the streets to welcome the riders.
