A Connecticut father has been arrested in the death of his 4-month-old daughter after an investigation determined the baby girl died from medical neglect and chronic malnutrition.
Kyle Vigneault, 27, of Norwalk, was arrested Thursday and charged with manslaughter and related crimes approximately eight months after the death of the infant.
On June 11, 2024, detectives with the Norwalk Police Department responded to a residence on Rae Lane after Vigneault called 911 to report that a 4-month-old was choking on formula. He told dispatchers he’d attempted CPR for several minutes before contacting emergency services.
The infant, described by NBC Connecticut as Vigneault’s daughter, was rushed to Norwalk Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An investigation into the baby’s death determined the girl had died from “complications of medical and nutritional neglect with necrotizing appendicitis and chronic malnutrition.” Authorities ruled her death a homicide.
On Thursday, police arrested Vigneault at his Norwalk residence. He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree manslaughter, risk of injury to a child and cruelty to persons.
Vigneault is being held on a $125,000 bond, Norwalk police said. He’s expected back in court on Feb. 27.
