The most romantic day of the year is right around the corner, and Scots will be gearing up to tell their partner or love interest exactly how they feel about them.

The weather hasn’t to be too kind to the couples out there, sadly. A blizzard is threatening to keep Scots indoors in some parts of the country over the weekend, but it won’t dampen – pardon the pun – their spirits.

Especially for those in certain areas. This is because the spots most looking for love have been unveiled by a new study, conducted by casino experts, and the results may be surprising to some people.

Casino Revisor used monthly Google searches to see which UK cities were most searching for a spark through dating apps and dating events for over nearly a year.

Plymouth is the number one city wanting a relationship, while Edinburgh is placed third after Bournemouth. The capital’s favourite dating app is OkCupid, Tinder follows in second with 303, while Grindr is third.

Glasgow ranks ninth. The Dear Green Place seems to be a hit with romantics, perhaps thanks to intimate spots like Kelvingrove Park, the west end, and Merchant City which boasts quaint pubs and restaurants to charm a lover.

Tinder is the most searched app in Glasgow, with a whopping 500 searches each month. OkCupid is second, while Hinge is third. Glasgow has seen 4,094 monthly Google searches looking for love.

“The analysis… can signal cities where residents are experiencing loneliness or struggling to find connections organically due to factors like remote work,” Franz Ostendorff, gambling expert, said on the findings.

“It also reflects society’s growing acceptance of dating apps as mainstream and even necessary in certain areas. The reliance on apps indicates that digital-first interactions are becoming the norm for relationships.”
