The famous old saying claims ‘no news is good news’ but the radio silence out of Ibrox has sounded like screams of horror for downtrodden Rangers fans.

Social media doesn’t always offer an accurate reading on the temperature of a whole fanbase, however, Light Blue diehards in unison have aired their annoyance that there has been no communication from Rangers after a horrid week. The chastening Queen’s Park defeat, among the biggest shocks in Scottish Cup history, has ramped up the pressure on Philippe Clement with many supporters willing to cut ties with the beleaguered Belgian. Hearts are next and many are planning to take in the trip to Gorgie from behind the couch.

Rangers haven’t posted on their social media accounts in four days bar a singular retweet for the Rangers Charity Foundation. Now, 24 hours out from the traditional Friday press conference, punters are now waiting with baited breath over what comes next. Record Sport understands the Ibrox side will hold their usual media duties, with Clement and a player speaking to the assembled press pack in the early afternoon.

But fans are also hoping for an official statement from the club with the Rangers Fan Advisory Board revealing the minutes from a wide-ranging sitdown with Patrick Stewart to be made available in the near future. The latest meeting took place before the shock defeat to the Spiders, however, fans are itching for correspondence from the club in the wake of a defeat which has condemned Rangers to an almost certain season without domestic silverware.

It’s been a week of quiet reflection but there is now nowhere to escape. Clement will speak and fans expect answers of substance. The first team squad will also be snapped during their pre-match training session ahead of the visit to Tynecastle.

The time for talking has passed but silence is no longer an option.
