A parking dispute turned ugly when a woman was called a two-word slur in front of her daughter, leaving her furious and distressed.
The mother felt compelled to share her ordeal on Mumsnet, detailing the “upsetting,” incident that unfolded while trying to park.
She explained she was parking on a “narrow garden square [which has] resident parking on both sides of the road”. She continued: “Usually, the right-hand side of the road leading out of the square is left empty as 99% of the time, residents always find a space on the left-hand side, and it’s so narrow that SUVs and delivery vans struggle a bit.
“At the moment, there are suspensions in place in a part of the square, so every now and then, we have to park on the right-hand side.” As she was getting her things and her daughter ready, she noticed the man’s Range Rover.
She said: “He stopped a few metres back, so I approached to ask if he was struggling to get past us. Willing to help, she “offered to move” her car closer to the fence, even though it meant she’d have to “climb out on the passenger side to exit”.
After he accepted, she repositioned her car accordingly. The situation quickly escalated after the mum attempted to move her car, reports the Express.
“I had only just about finished moving my car when he starts squeezing past – there’s a crunch: he drove into my car. He reversed; I climbed out through the passenger door and approached him.”
“I said he just drove into me, he said he has a camera that filmed it all, and he didn’t. I replied that it’s good that he filmed it all as it will show the whole sequence of events. He then called me a b***h several times and finished it off with f***ing b***h, all this in front of my daughter.”
Remaining calm for her child, she then “locked the car and just left to go into my house,” not wanting to provoke further confrontation. The mother admitted not exchanging details at the time, which she chalked up to the man’s “very hostile” demeanour, and shared that police involvement was discouraged as being called a “f**king b***h” is not grounds for them to step in.
Some commenters advised the woman should have noted his number plate to report the incident, while others suggested that adults should sometimes let name-calling slide. One person commented: “Ultimately it sounds like your parking made it difficult for vehicles to use the road.
“He shouldn’t have hit your car or name called. Maybe just find somewhere more appropriate to park.”
Others were more sympathetic, saying: “Sorry that happened to you. The man in question sounded very aggressive, which is really not acceptable behaviour, especially in front of a child.
“Well done for keeping your cool, and hope it gets sorted!” Another person reacted angrily: “The original poster clearly describes a situation where there is parking on both sides of the road.
“It’s a garden square – I assume that there is no pavement between the fence and the road. She parked in a legitimate parking space next to the fence, and an a**hole drove into her car.”
The woman later revealed that her husband had spoken to the man, who was “very unpleasant” before winding up his window and driving off. She hoped that would be the end of the matter, as her car only had a minor scratch.
