A gang of balaclava-clad thugs crashed into a set of parked cars causing a motor to flip in a trail of destruction in a Scots town.
The smash took place on Oakbank Drive in Barrhead at 4.30pm on Thursday. A driver of a black hatchback car is understood to have collided with another vehicle outside a home on the street before their motor flipped.
The drivers and others in the car are then reported to have fled the scene in balaclavas.
Lisa Coupar, who lives on the street, told how the gang- which included three males- crashed into her daughter’s car before abandoning their vehicle in the middle of the road.
The mum says that she has since discovered the car was uninsured.
Writing on Facebook, she said: “Three boys about 17 to 18-years-old crashed into my daughter’s car outside our house in Barrhead today and then ran away with balaclavas on! We have since found out the car is uninsured meaning we will need to cover the costs.”
Images from the scene show the car tipped onto its roof with debris strewn across the street. Tyre marks can also be seen burnt onto the road as neighbours watched on in horror.
The damage is estimated to cost the family around £1,000 in repairs.
Lisa continued: “If anyone recognises this car or has seen it about please let us know. Also keep an eye out for your son’s coming home injured as there’s no way they’ve walked away from this without a scrape!
“Absolutely gutted for my daughter, she is only 18 and not long ago got her car, she works so hard to pay for it and the insurance just for these wee idiots to totally wreck it. It’s likely to be a write off. So lucky she wasn’t in the car at the time and that they didn’t kill anyone driving like that!”
