A passenger on board a plane has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences almost immediately after his flight touched down.
The man, who is yet to be identified, was flying from Amsterdam to Manchester on Thursday, February 13, and was detained by specialist organised crime officers investigating alleged “county lines” drug dealing.
He remains in custody for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis, Manchester Evening News reports.
In a post on social media in the early hours of Friday morning, Greater Manchester Police’s Longsight and Moss Side policing team shared an image of the passenger being led away by officers.
Writing on Facebook, they said: “This evening officers from the City of Manchester Central Challenger organised crime team, along with officers from Manchester airport, arrested an adult male on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs.
“The man had just returned from a trip to Amsterdam and as the plane touched down, officers boarded and took him into custody. The arrest is part of an investigation into county lines offending, between Lancashire and Manchester.
“Officers believe the male to be involved in supplying cocaine and cannabis in the City of Manchester. The male is currently being held in police custody and will be dealt with by detectives from the Challenger team in the morning.”
