Lockerbie has chosen its Miss Valentine 2025 in Ava Rae.

She was chosen at a St Valentine’s disco in Dumfries and Galloway, attended by more than 100 youngsters, held in the MACC on Friday.

The ROM committee thanks Angie Murray and The little salon for sponsoring, all the helpers, our DJ, the glitter tattoos and face painter and to MACC Lockerbie.

Lockerbie Gala and Riding of the Marches Committee have announced the names of two of their major principals.

This year’s Cornet is Grant Nelson and the Standard Bearer is Katrina Carruthers.

They are also going to the polls to choose their Cornet’s Lass.

Nicole Paterson, Robyn Cloy and Abbie Cowan have all put their names forward for the honour.

Voting by the public will be held on Friday, March 7, between 6pm and 8pm to all over 18’s in Lockerbie Town Hall.

The ROM committee are asking anyone who looks under 25 to take along their ID so they can vote.

It will also be a coffee evening – their first fundraiser of the year – with games and a raffle.

Nominations for Lockerbie Gala Queen are still being collected today at the Academy.

It is open for any S3 girl attending Lockerbie Academy and living within the academy catchment area – if you live out with Lockerbie, you must not live in a town or village which has its own local gala or similar with a similar role – to put their name forward on the nomination forms available at the Academy office.

Meanwhile, Annan will go to the polls today to choose this year’s Cornet’s lass.

Kayleigh Murdock and Kayleigh Murray are both vying to help lead the Annan Riding of the Marches celebration this summer.

Voting will take place in The Angler’s on the High Street between 3pm and 7pm and it is open to anyone aged 18 and over to cast their vote. There are no boundaries.

In addition, five have put their names forward to be chosen as Annan Queen of the Border 2025.

Voting will take place today at Annan Academy amongst their school year pupils.

The count and announcement will then be held tonight in Newington Social Club round 7.30pm.

Annan ROM will take place on Saturday, July 5 this year, with a fortnight of celebrations before.
