Prince William has paid a loving tribute to wife Kate on Valentine’s Day after the “hardest year”.

The future King shared a snap of him with the Princess of Wales on the pair’s official Instagram account. The intimate picture shows William and Kate sitting in woodland, on a tree trunk, as Kate giggles and William kisses her sweetly. The post was shared alongside a red heart emoji.

The photo was a still from the video that was released last year to announce Kate had finished her chemotherapy treatment. Fans flocked to the comments to say the post showed the pair’s relationship was “true love forever” after the rocky past few months they’d faced together.

In November, William shared an insight into the past few months which saw the Royal Family suffer a double cancer diagnosis blow, with both Kate and King Charles forced to step away from public duties for a spell for treatment.

William admitted while on a trip to South Africa hat it had been “brutal” but he’d been so “proud” of them. He said: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.” William previously took the unprecedented step of praising Kate on social media for her birthday earlier this year. Alongside a stunning snap of his wife, he hailed her an “incredible wife and mother” who was “remarkable” in the way she faced her health battle.

William wrote: “To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W”.
