Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun has become a staple for viewers who enjoy watching property experts, such as Laura Hamilton, guide prospective buyers through various houses abroad.
Since joining the show in 2011, Laura has become the second-longest serving presenter after Jasmine Harman, who has been with the programme since 2004, reports the Liverpool Echo.
With 14 years under her belt, questions have arisen about Laura’s future on the show. In response to queries about her plans, she said: “I’ve been in television and the industry for a very long time.”
“Since I was 18! So I got into presenting when I was 22, and I very much hope to be continuing filming, filming with A Place in the Sun and new property stuff. I am actively involved in property away from any TV-related stuff that I do.”
Laura also shared insights into the filming process, explaining that each episode takes five days to shoot, giving the experts ample time to understand the needs of the couples they assist.
She continued: “I guess they feel like they know us because the show is the second longest-running show on Channel 4.
“So people do feel like they know us and they’re comfortable with us. It’s great for me, it’s the perfect thing! A bit of travel, a bit of property and the people!”
Over her tenure, Laura has aided numerous individuals in finding their ideal homes abroad and often remains in contact with them, including a couple she helped relocate to Gran Canaria five years ago.
The Channel 4 celebrity shared some insight into her connections with those who have featured on the show, saying: “I regularly message people that I’ve worked with and helped find houses.
“My house in Majorca, when I found that property, the couple that I was filming with at that time, she’s helping me as my eyes and ears on the ground over there at the moment.”
She confessed that it isn’t possible to stay in touch with everyone from the show but expressed delight when receiving updates from past acquaintances.
Next month, fans will have the chance to see Laura at the Ideal Home Show, where she’ll be offering tips on property alongside other household names such as Dilly Carter, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Lorraine Kelly, and Martin Lewis.
Ahead of the event kicking off in London on March 21, Laura’s anticipation is palpable. She remarked: “I’m seriously excited. It’s actually something that I’ve wanted to be part of for a while now.
“So the fact that I’m involved this year is really, really exciting. I do have lots of personal property projects on the go and I’ll be inspired when I’m there.”
Sharing her thoughts on the event, she said: “It’s the perfect day out if you’re looking for interior or exterior inspiration. There are over 600 exhibitors there. It literally is everything you could possibly want or need. Even things that you haven’t thought of are all under one roof.
“I think it’s amazing to go over a couple of days, don’t just go for one day, go a couple of times because you might not be able to get around and see everything you want to see in one day, so why not go twice.”
The Channel 4 star is set to make an appearance at the Ideal Home Show, where she’ll be sharing her expertise over three days.
