Detectives are appealing for information after a 56-year-old man was left seriously injured following an attack in Gourock.

Officers were called to a flat in Davidson Drive at around 1.10pm on Friday, where the man was found injured.

Police Scotland said the man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment for “lacerations”

Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Detective Inspector David Hardie said: “Enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace the three people responsible for this attack.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the local area along with gathering and checking CCTV footage to establish more information on the circumstances.

“This is a busy area and I would urge anyone there around 1pm on Friday afternoon who witnessed anything suspicious or has information that may assist our investigation.

“I would also ask any drivers with dashcam or people with personal footage to review their recordings and please get in touch if it holds anything relevant.”
