A savvy mum has shared a hidden Amazon Alexa feature device that enabled her to get her son to drift off to sleep effortlessly.
Regardless of how old your children are, it can be difficult to get them to go to sleep. Whether they don’t want to go to bed or they find it difficult to snooze once they’re tucked up, it can be a minefield.
One parent, named Sam, shared a simple yet effective hack on TikTok that helped her children drift off. She explained how she uses Alexa to reassure her young toddler, who gets scared of being left alone at night, that his room is safe.
In the video caption, Sam explained that her son had been struggling with a fear of monsters, which was preventing him from getting a good night’s sleep. Despite trying different several things to calm him, including different beds, nightlights, and teddy bears, nothing seemed to help.
However, she then discovered a hidden feature on their Alexa assistant that proved to be the solution for her and her son’s problems.
“I think this is the key that will crack my toddler’s fear of monsters in his room! ” she said.
“Did you know your Alexa device could do this,” she wrote on the video. “This is perfect if you have a child who is scared of monsters in their room.”
She filmed her son lying in his pyjamas on a blow-up bed before turning to the Alexa device in the corner of the room. “Alexa,” she said. “Enable monster check.”
The device responded: “Okay, here’s monster check. Welcome to monster check. Please state the area you would like to scan for monsters.”
After Sam requested a scan of the bedroom, the device replied: “Scanning all surfaces for monsters in the bedroom… no monsters were found in the bedroom,”.
In an endearing moment caught on video, a mum reassures her son that there are no monsters lurking in his bedroom.
The youngster looks visibly baffled before gaining the courage to stand up and approach his mum.
“I think he was in shock,” she captioned the footage. The clip then transitions to a more cheerful scene as the lad appears relieved upon receiving confirmation that there were indeed no monsters present, allowing him to head to bed without any fears.
According to Amazon’s website, Monster Check is a free app for parents that “scans” for monsters and reports back that none were found. Monster Check never finds any creature, so your child can feel safe knowing there are no monsters lurking around.
They added a disclaimer saying that the device didn’t actually have the ability to scan for anything, including monsters, but is instead designed to help parents give their children a piece of mind.
