Celtic becoming trophy kingpins was a gut punch but it’s all the secondary titles and monikers disappearing which also rankles. The phrase ‘Going for 55’ was more than a motto for those in blue, it was a declaration that they were coming for Celtic. But news that famous number soon won’t be there to claim is proving tough to deal with.

I hope they recommend a financial takeover to put the club on sound footing and to slowly build up player quality and youth progress.”
John Rush, London, added: “How often will poor George Wilson repeat his fable about Celtic’s Champion’s League performance? The fact is George, the team that knocked Rangers out the Champion’s league qualifiers, Kyiv, ended up in the bottom three of the diddy Europa league. The team that beat Kyiv, RB Salzburg, ended up in the bottom three of the Champion’s League.
“So George, Rangers got beaten by the worst of the worst. Then again, if Queens Park had entered then they would have beaten the worst of the worst of the worst. This does not affect your statutory rights, George.”
Stuart McLeod, Stepps, is fed up waiting to watch his team. He said: “Yet another weekend and it’s another Sunday fixture for Rangers. As a season ticket holder Sunday fixtures don’t suit me as I travel back down south to be ready for work on a Monday morning. We have barely played a match at 3pm on a Saturday and as far as I understand that goes with the Europa narrative, we play on Sundays even when not involved in Europa action.”
A critique of Celtic against Bayern Munich hasn’t gone down well. Liam Birney, Paisley, said: “You have to laugh at the brass neck of Gary Stevenson on the Hotline on Saturday having a go at Celtic, who played one of the top teams in the world and lost by the odd goal. But Celtic cannot escape without one snipe, of course. Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: “Who is Rodgers trying to kid? James Forrest is on the way back! Big deal.
