State of Emergency declared for Mercer County and evacuation center opened

PRINCETON, W.Va. – A state of emergency has been declared for Mercer County due to the storms.

Emergency Management Director Keith Gunnoe urges people to stay off the roads and stay inside if possible.

An emergency evacuation center has been opened at the Princeton Lifeline Center for anyone in need of shelter.

Roads in Mercer County have been closed due to flooding and rock sliding.

If you are in need of rescuing, call 911.
