BECKLEY, W. Va. -On Saturday, the Beckley Salvation Army hoped to raise support for local youth, using a pancake brunch. “Pancakes with Presidents” brought brunch and all-ages fun to Salvation Army, with inflatables, crafts, and, of course, pancakes.

This event is a fundraiser to help support their new “Kid’s Club” that provides after-school activities with fun, socialization, and learning to around thirty kids in the community. In addition, they also have summer camps and a spring break VBS that will be held from March 31st to April 4th.

However, the director of the Kids Club, Emma Harvey, says the event also raises awareness about their program… and adds that kids and their parents were excited to hear about all the activities they offer and the importance of this program in the lives of the children involved.

“I think it’s incredibly vital. Kids need more people in their corner rallying for them. We want to be that extra pair of hands to help, and we want to help them with their homework, we want to help them instill confidence in their lives, so that they know someone is there for them,” says Harvey.

If you would like to get more information about joining the Kids Club, you can email [email protected]

If you missed this brunch but would still like to show your support, you can donate at the Beckley Salvation Army website or by stopping by their location at 2871 Robert C. Byrd Drive. They are also in need of volunteers.
