Ryan Reynolds humorously referenced his and wife Blake Lively’s legal dispute with Justin Baldoni during his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

It comes following the actress making her first public outing in two months, which also coincided with Reynolds’ participation in the SNL50: The Anniversary Special that aired on Sunday.

During a segment alongside Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Reynolds stood up from the audience where he was seated next to his wife as reported by the Mirror and interjected, “I have a question,” prompting the response, “Oh Ryan Reynolds, how’s it going?”.

The Deadpool actor played off the ongoing lawsuit him and his wife are involved in by answering, “Great – why, what have you heard?”. The audience reacted with laughter before Reynolds shifted the conversation to a more lighthearted topic.

He asked, “You know the materials that they made the cone heads with – are those edible?” The A-lister couple have been caught up in a legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star.

The pair have remained largely silent about the lawsuit, which began after Lively accused Baldoni of trying to tarnish her reputation following their film’s press tour and claimed he sexually harassed her on set.

Details of his alleged “repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behaviour” were reportedly discussed in an on-set meeting, according to documents obtained by the Mirror.

Justin has refuted the claims and retaliated with a defamation lawsuit, alleging that Blake and Ryan tried to take over control of the film’s direction.

The couple’s appearance together at the glamorous red carpet event sparked online backlash. One critic commented: “Desperation is showing,” while another quipped: ” ‘How sweet of SNL to try and do damage control for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively-but it won’t work.”

Sunday’s event saw Blake and Ryan rubbing shoulders with numerous other celebrities as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the iconic NBC show.

The guest list boasted stars like Eddie Murphy, Kristen Wiig, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Bill Murray, Leslie Jones, David Spade, and Jon Lovitz.

Celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Cher, and Tom Hanks were also spotted among the glittering crowd at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. Blake dazzled in an elegant silver dress adorned with floral details, while Ryan was dapper in a classic black tuxedo.
