AUSTIN, Texas — Texas’ oldest swimming pool will be closed Tuesday for a scheduled inspection and maintenance.
Deep Eddy Pool, located in Austin, will not permit visitors on Feb. 18 while an inspection of the deep end takes place.
The pool will reopen on Wednesday for its normal hours of operation, which are typically from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for lap swimming and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for recreational swimming on Mondays through Fridays. Weekend hours vary slightly, with the pool open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for lap swim and 10 a.m. to 7p.m. for recreational swim on Saturdays and Sundays.
Typically, Deep Eddy shuts down on the first Tuesday each month, but this week’s inspection is separate from that regularly-scheduled maintenance. Last year, the pool closed from January until mid-March for additional maintenance, which included adding a new bulkhead and improved deck lighting.
The free recreational pool is located at 401 Deep Eddy Ave.
Those still wanting to get in the water on Tuesday can visit other year-round pools throughout Austin. Those include Bartholomew, Barton Springs, Big Stacy and Springwoods.
