MONROE COUNTY, W.Va. – UPDATE:as of 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, a State of Emergency has been declared in Monroe County.
In the county’s resolution to declare a State of Emergency, shared with WVVA, they cited “significant property damage,” “disrupted critical infrastructure,” and “serious risk to public health and safety” as reasons for the new declaration.
As Monroe County recuperates from the high water levels Feb. 15, the Monroe County 911 and Emergency Management Director has shared an update on their status.
Miller also explained that they plan to look into getting support from FEMA later on, a sentiment that the Mayor of Alderson shares.
At the time of Miller’s interview, Monroe County had not entered a State of Emergency, and Miller told WVVA at the time that was not the current plan.
