Council chiefs have begged St Patrick’s Day punters not to camp outside a popular pub after hardy Scots slept at the door ahead of celebrations last year.
Bosses at Dropkick Murphys on Merchant Street in Edinburgh were left in stitches back in March after the dedicated revellers snoozed in tents outside the premises. Staff were left stunned as they arrived to clean the premises before being greeted by the two tents at the door.
This year, as the pub geared up for another busy day of celebrations on March 17, bosses revealed they had been contacted by the council with a special request aimed at eager punters.

In a post on Facebook, Dropkick Murphys said: “St Patrick’s Day is just around the corner! We have been asked by the council to advertise NO CAMPING overnight to be the first in.
“You can get down early though! Sign up via the link the bio to get free entry and attend our VK Bottomless Greggs Brunch.”
Images shared by the pub last year showed one blue tent and one pink tent situated at the door of the pub. The words ‘PADDY’S DAY 24’ could be seen scrawled across the side of the pink tent – which was draped in green, white and orange bunting.

In a second image a man and a woman posed up with Guinness hat’s covering their faces – with a bottle of Frosty Jack’s cider seen situated at their feet.
Speaking to the Record at the time, manager Seamus Murphy said: “Holy Mother of God. I’d have have let them kip at the house If I had known they were that keen. I went and got them a cup of tea and some sausages. Please don’t be at this craic lads.”
Locals were left in stitches after the images of the campers were posted on social media. One person said: “The devotion and commitment of these pious people to honouring the memory of glorious St. Patrick is humbling.” Another added: “Can’t fault the dedication though!”

Staff at Dropkick Murphys – which is located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town – offered out free Greggs sausage rolls to each devoted punter in the queue as it began to build up last year.
Delighted revellers in Irish hats could be seen collecting the treats as they waited to gain entry to the pub.
