Call the Midwife favourite Helen George has confirmed her new relationship on social media after parting ways with her former husband and co-star, Jack Ashton.
The star, known for her portrayal of Nurse Trixie Franklyn in the hit BBC series, embraced single life following her break up in 2023. In pursuit of romance, she even ventured onto a premium dating application to see if Mr Right was out there waiting for her.
It appears that Helen, who recently turned 40, may have struck gold in the love department, as she took to her Instagram account to showcase a Valentine’s Day celebration with her beau.
Helen tagged her new flame, Dan Innes, in her posts. Dan, a real estate marketer, characterises himself in his bio as “Future thinker, architecturally inquisitive, marine + mountainous, health + moderation, national + Atlantic oarsman, possible viking.”
Hailing from Wales, Dan previously tied the knot with Kate Wetton in 2008 and is dad to two kids aged 14 and 12. He and Kate separated back in 2016, as reported by the Mirror.

During their romantic outing at The Waterman Arms in Barnes, Helen captured a shot showing an abundance of tasty treats, captioning it: “The most delicious Valentine’s over-ordering. Hearts and stomachs full @daninnes @thewatermans.arms.”
Dan also preserved memories of their enchanting evening, snapping candlelit ambiance and expressing gratitude: “Thank you for saving us a table and making us the off-menu lemondrop martinis.”
His later post featured Helen beaming in a faux-fur coat and holding a wine bottle, accompanied by the humorous quip: “Can I get this to go please? #yesyesyes”.
Helen, who was previously wed to actor Oliver Boot from 2011 until their split in 2015 just weeks before her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, found love on set again with co-star Jack Ashton. The pair welcomed daughters Wren in 2017 and Lark in 2021 but shocked fans by parting ways in July 2023 after seven years together.
Helen opened up to the Mirror at the time, asking for privacy: “Some months ago, we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus and I respectfully ask for privacy for this next chapter.”
Post-split, Helen focused on her career and family before deciding to join the dating scene again last year, through the exclusive app Raya. Her profile, linked to her Instagram and created in August, reveals her as an actor with interests spanning from hotels, restaurants, meditation, and travel, to dogs and antiques.
A source close to Helen commented on her Love life, saying: “Helen joined Raya with the encouragement of her friends, and is hoping to meet someone she really clicks with. But she is incredibly happy at the moment, so she is not putting any pressure on it at all. As far as she’s concerned, a relationship would be a bonus if the right person came along.”
