Two buyers were left feeling emotional on BBC’s Escape To The Country as they viewed an “amazing” property located in Scotland. Viewers were introduced to Phil and Andrea during Wednesday’s (19 February) episode of the hit programme, which was hosted by Sonali Shah.
Phil, a retired teacher, and Andrea, an administrator, were searching for their ideal home Perthshire, after falling in love with the location during their honeymoon in 2016. The duo were planning to uproot from Bournemouth for a fresh start, with a budget of £425,000.
After looking at two properties which weren’t quite right, Sonali took Phil and Andrea to view a third home.
The quirky property was a converted carpentry workshop and had an upside down layout, with the living area upstairs while the bedrooms were located downstairs.
Upon initial inspection, Andrea branded the four-bedroom property “different but cosy”, yet it wasn’t long until she and Phil were won over.
“I think it’s amazing, I absolutely love it!” she later exclaimed. Andrea and Phil then asked to find out how much the home was on the market for, and held their breath as Sonali shared the price.
However, it was revealed to be well within the pair’s budget, as it was on the market for £299,500. The duo couldn’t believe their luck, branding the price “amazing”.
Chatting to the camera, Andrea said: “The price is amazing, we were stunned by the price,” before adding: “I think it’s perfect actually. The views are amazing.”
Phil added: “It gives us a good mixture, and it also brings out the more creative, imaginative side in me. As much as I can see, what it would be like if we were living here.”
Andrea struggled to hold back her emotions as she said: “But, also quietly excited about finding somewhere. I’m getting a bit emotional!” Her husband then handed her a tissue as she wiped her eyes, having become tearful with excitement.
Despite their reaction to the property, Andrea and Phil were later more excited by Sonali’s mystery home. However, the couple walked away without making an offer on either home, with it being revealed they’d been won over by a different property which wasn’t viewed on the show.
