A stolen car was driven at 120mph despite police officers bursting its tyres with a deflation device.
Ryan McLaughlin, 34, of Asher Road, Airdrie, appeared at the town’s sheriff court this week.
He admitted stealing a vehicle from Castle Garage in Doune, near Stirling, on August 6, 2023.
An arrest warrant was issued for another man facing the same charge who failed to attend court.
McLaughlin also admitted driving the stolen car dangerously on the M80 in Cumbernauld and elsewhere five days later.
The charge stated that he failed to stop for the police and clocked speeds of up to 120 miles an hour despite the pursuing officers having used a device to deflate the tyres.
He also “failed to keep the vehicle under proper control”.
McLaughlin further admitted driving with excess amounts of alcohol and a cannabis-type substance in his system.
Sheriff Joseph Hughes called for background reports and deferred sentence on McLaughlin, who remains on bail, until April.
