Malachi likes science, and he wants to be a wildfire pilot someday.

AUSTIN, Texas — Every week on KVUE, we feature a different child in the Texas foster care system, in hopes of helping them get adopted by a forever family

Malachi is an energetic and curious 12-year-old in the sixth grade who is ready to find a loving and supportive family to take care of him.

He likes trying to figure things out and learning about things. That’s why KVUE met him at the Museum of Illusions in The Domain. He enjoyed walking through the different exhibits, trying to understand the illusions.

“Science is my favorite subject at school. We are learning about moon phases using edible experiments with Oreos!” Malachi said.

He said he would love to have a family that shows him a lot of affection.

“I want a mom and a dad. I just enjoy having a parent with me,” Malachi said. “A hug will always help. I kind-of like a bear hug.”

Malachi has an interest in aviation and thinks it would be cool to be a pilot who helps fight fires from the sky.

He said his best friend at his group home is leaving soon because he found a forever family, and Malachi hopes he can also find a loving home for himself.

To learn more about Malachi or to put in an inquiry to adopt him, visit his page on the Heart Gallery of Central Texas.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.

Editor’s noteThe children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE’s Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
