Like many different things in life, whisky preferences can be different for everyone who indulges in a glass of Scotland’s National Drink.
The beloved booze has a large variety of flavour profiles that will suit nearly every palette. If you’re looking for one that provides a “complex” bunch of flavours and a “memorable” drinking experience, we have spotted one specific bottle worth bagging.
It’s the Laphroaig 10 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky and it is currently on offer on Amazon for 33 per cent less. Worth £43 for a 700ml bottle, it now costs just £28.98, saving whisky lovers just over a neat £14 off the RRP.

First created over 75 years ago, the Laphroaig is famed for its “unique flavour profile” that is created by cold-smoking malt barley over peat fires, a process that is only used by a handful of distilleries across the country.
These grains are then dried over the same fires before being tossed on the distillery’s malting floor that faces out to the sea. The result is a “full bodied” and “smoky flavoured whisky that is packed with notes of salty seaweed and a lingering sweetness.

Designed to be enjoyed on its own neatly over ice, or as part of your favourite cocktail, this single malt will suit pretty much any whisky connoisseur. According to the brand itself, its 10 year-old offering is a “peaty rite of passage.”
As it turns out, many Amazon users believe the Laphroaig Single Malt is impressive, as it has earned a stellar 4.8 average rating based on almost 8,000 reviews that have praised its “deep” flavour that makes it “undoubtedly the best ever made.”
One delighted customer said: “To me, it’s a wonderful whisky. First time I tried it I thought it smelled like an ointment. I grew to enjoy it though. Peaty, smoky, strong. Gives you a warm, comforting feeling inside. I love the smell of it but it may not be to everyone’s taste. You love it or hate it but this whisky is definitely unique and full of character.”
A second shopper praised: “This is the Whisky for a special occasion. Deep peaty smoky flavour and warm after taste is second to none. I’ve tried a lot of Malts but this is head-and-shoulders above the others. With its unique flavour, the long smoky aftertaste reminds you that you have a dram of the best.”
Another whisky drinker said of the flavour: “Very good balanced taste, peat, vanilla and almonds, punches way above his weight. Good job!”
And another added: “Laphroaig, by far undoubtedly the best whisky ever made. Produced on the Isle of Islay in Scotland and is enhanced by the flavour of smoke and peat. Such a rich taste. I can see why pubs charge £5.00 a shot. Buy your own bottle and share with friends at home. Top draw and highly recommended.”
However, the smokier flavour is, of course, not too everyone’s tastes, as one shopper said: “Nice whisky but bit smoky for my taste, having said that I don’t like smoky whisky at all so no surprise there. If you do it’s probably quite a nice one and not a reflection of the whisky but me for ordering it.”
