Gustaf Lagerbielke hasn’t heard much from Celtic – but that is the way he wants it.

The Hoops defender is on loan at FC Twente and has been making waves during his time at the Eredivisie club. After a patient start he’s found his way into the team and has been impressing both domestically and in the Europa League. He didn’t really get that chance to hit the ground running at Parkhead and it is almost that out of sight, out of mind feeling.

In quotes carried by Twenteinsite, he explained: “I don’t hear much from Celtic, they probably have other things on their minds. Me too. I’m concentrating on Twente.”

Lagerbielke has impressed and his current club want him on full-time deal. The defender – who moved to Parkhead back in 2023 on a five-year deal – still has nearly three years to run on the contract he penned after a reported £3million switch to Glasgow. The Sweden stopper is happy in his current surroundings but conceded it is not only down to the player in these negotiations.

He also highlighted the Europa League win over Besiktas and describe the noise that night on par with an Old Firm showdown between Rangers and Celtic. He described the atmosphere as coming to a ‘boiling point’ in the 1-0 win over the Turkish giants.

He continued: “I’ll wait and see. Everything is still open. In football, it’s not always the player himself who can make decisions. But I’m happy here and the club is great for me. I enjoy playing here, the family feeling, the atmosphere in De Grolsch Veste.

“Last week, the supporters pushed us forward again. In the second half, you could feel how the Bodo/Glimt players were getting intimidated. Against Besiktas, the stadium came to a boiling point. The noise that evening was sometimes comparable to the Old Firm.”
