Michelle Keegan is set to reprise her role as Kate Thorn in Ten Pound Poms for a second series, following the announcement that the BBC drama will be making a return.

Set to release to viewers next month, the 36-year-old actress will be back on screens once more as Kate, part of a group of Brits who leave post-war Britain behind in 1956 for Australia, with promise of a better house, job prospects and quality of life for only £10.

Annoucning the news on Instagram the producers wrote, “COMING SOON: Starring Michelle Keegan, Faye Marsay and Warren Brown, a brand new season of the critically acclaimed Stan Original Series Ten Pound Poms arrives in March on Stan, and on @BBCiPlayer if you’re in the UK. #TenPoundPoms #StanOriginals.”

It comes after Michelle and her husband Mark Wright’s £3.5 million Essex mansion was targeted just days ago, following the couple’s sweet pregnancy announcement with fans.

Mark and Michelle reportedly barricaded themselves in their bedroom as the intruders broke into their mansion. The incident happened on Tuesday evening and they were alerted after they heard the sound of their porch window being shattered, followed by the activation of their alarm system.

Response to Ten Pound Poms’ first series got mixed reviews, with some fans felt Michelle’s appearance didn’t truly hit the mark to reflect the timeless era, despite the costume department being on point.

For some, Michelle’s perfectly groomed eyebrows were not in keeping with the 1950s, as one person wrote on Twitter: “Enjoying this but Michelle Keegans eyebrows look a bit out of place for the era.”

Another added: “Michelle Keegan is the most beautiful woman but the microbladed brows and LVL does not fit the 1950’s theme.” However, others were full of praise for the actress, displaying their delight at seeing her take on a different role.

One wrote: “I watching Ten Pound Poms every Sunday night. I really enjoyed the story. Good to see Michelle Keegan playing a different part in the show. I watched Michelle Keegan was in Coronation Street.”

Another shared: “Am I watching #TenPoundPoms because of Michelle Keegan? Yes, yes I am.” A third tweeted: “I’m absolutely loving #TenPoundPoms on BBC iPlayer, Michelle Keegan and Faye Marsay are outstanding.”
