Emmerdale enthusiasts were dealt another painful blow on Thursday night as Amy Wyatt’s storyline came to a tragic end, mere days after three other villagers’ deaths.

Amy succumbed to her injuries after a dreadful limo accident which saw her car plunge into a frozen lake.

She was taken to hospital in a critical state, battling severe hypothermia. After initially indicating signs of recovery post-seizure, Amy tragically suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away.

Before her condition took a turn for the worse, Amy had awoken and confided in her husband, Matty Barton, that she’d seen a body in the lake, voicing her fears it could be Nate Robinson, whom she believed to be missing. However, her message wasn’t clearly understood by Matty.

As tears flowed, Amy declared her love for Matty just before her health sharply declined. Though medics scrambled to intervene as her health failed, their efforts were in vain.

Kerry Wyatt, Amy’s mother, and her young son Kyle were given the heartbreaking news, leaving them in shatters. The sad event comes in the wake of Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton’s deaths, and that of an unidentified individual found in the lake, bringing the death toll to four in just a short span, deeply upsetting the show’s viewers, reports Leicestershire Live.

The exit of Amy from Emmerdale prompted a wave of grief among its viewers, with many distraught fans expressing their upset on social media. A disheartened audience member posted: “Why do all my favourite show characters end up dying! ! oh Emmerdale what have you done today I am sobbing.”

Another viewer shared the same sentiment, stating: “3rd day in a row sobbing at Emmerdale. Give them all the awards like now.”

A third added: “Well, I’m absolutely sobbing,” while another was deeply touched by the scene at Amy’s bedside: “Kyle at Amy’s bedside, I am a MESS.”

The episode also sparked worry for Chas Dingle’s health following the crash. She seemed to be in extreme pain, clutching her side, which didn’t escape Charity Dingle’s notice, who expressed her concern.

Despite Chas reassuring her that she had been checked and given painkillers for a back twinge from slipping on ice, viewers suspect there’s more to her condition.

Social media is buzzing with theories that Chas could be facing a serious storyline linked to her cancer diagnosis from the previous year. Recalling scenes before the crash where Chas experienced pain, one viewer speculated: “Chas suffering back pain from the fall onto the ice. A few months back she was advised to have chemotherapy as a precaution following her double mastectomy operation and chose not to. I hope this is not the start of another cancer story for her.”

A second viewer echoed the same concern, saying: “Did anyone else get the impression Chas’s “back pain” was going to turn out to be something far worse? I know she slipped on the ice, and “tweaking” her back is a real possibility, but I can’t help thinking there will be more to it.”
