Jon Kay humorously suggested he was ready to leave during Monday’s BBC Breakfast show alongside Sally Nugent.
The duo presented a fresh edition of the morning programme, combing through the day’s leading headlines and news stories.
In a playful segment of the show, Jon and Sally discussed how some employers are contemplating introducing an exercise hour within the work schedule, reports the Express.
“What exercise are you planning to do today? Are you going to squeeze in your workout? Maybe before work, or really challenging after work? That’s always a tough one,” queried Sally.
Jon added to the conversation, saying: “Well, what about during work? Because there is talk that some employers are thinking about giving staff an hour as part of their working day, not just for a lunch break but to have an exercise break.
“I’m off!” Jon jested, then quickly clarified: “No, I’m not.”
As Sally fought back giggles, she responded: “I don’t think you are,” with Jon concurring: “No, I’m really not!”.
The pair continued chuckling over Jon’s pretended departure, and Sally cheekily encouraged him to seize the chance for an exercise break. “Go on, there is actually somewhere for you to go and exercise now if you would like to.
“That’s why I’m here! ” replied Jon, as the laughter continued between them.
Afterward, Jon and Sally transitioned to their colleague Nina Warhurst, who was broadcasting from outside the studio at Salford Quays, engaging with a group of runners.
In the segment, Nina delved into the group’s choice to kick-start their day with exercise instead of waiting until after work. The journalist even joined the runners for their warm-up outside the BBC Breakfast studio.
Fitness guru Joe Wicks, who has garnered a massive following due to his user-friendly workouts, appeared in a pre-recorded clip discussing the significance of working out and the advantages it brings.
