Scottish bingo caller Vinnie McKee surprised everyone on Britain’s Got Talent tonight with his version of The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). As Vinnie, who hails from Glasgow, introduced himself, an audience member shouted, “show us what Scotland’s made of!” and he did just that.
The 29-year-old introduced himself “holiday park entertainer” as he joked about singing each night to “one or ten tables”. Simon then asked “How do you think your going to go from there to here?” to which Vinnie replied: “I’m going to show you today.”
The singer then started to preform an emotional and slower rendition of The Proclaimers’ hit song. He seemed to have the audience on his side as they were all on there seats performance.

As all the judges stood up for a standing ovation, Simon claimed he was “speechless,” whilst the audience roared “push the gold”. Eventually it was Simon who pushed the golden buzzer, sending the Scot’s singer straight through to the semi finals.
Vinnie was overwhelmed with emotions as Simon approached him for a hug, telling him: “You deserved that. That was an absolutely spectacular version genuinely.”
“Thats mad, things like that don’t happen to me” Vinnie stated. The Scots were out in full force during tonights episode with Scottish musician Ruairidh Maclean kicking off the season with a bang.
The Scot’s performer from Ullapool was the first contestant to take the stage in tonight’s premiere, with a rendition of Baccara’s hit track, Yes Sir, I Can Boogie from 1977.

The disco hit, which became Scotland’s unofficial anthem for the 2020 Euros, gained popularity after the team secured qualification by defeating Serbia on penalties—marking their first Euros appearance since 1996.
Taking to the stage Ruairidh confused the judges as they believed he was about to preform a comedy act, but soon blew them away when he got his accordion out. Before preforming Simon and Alesha both said they hated it before Ruairidh began, but soon changed there minds.
KSI was the first judge to comment on the performance, stating: “That was weird, funky, I didn’t know what I was watching, but I was entertained. “
Simon remarked: “Accordions are like recorders. Normally, they don’t go down great,” prompting loud boos from the audience. He then admitted: “I’ve never heard anything like this in my life. That was mad.”
