Donald Trump has been warned he faces a “massive collapse” in just 30 days, by a Democratic strategist who claims “it’s over” for the US President.

Trump was elected back into the White House after sweeping aside Democrat Kamala Harris, winning both the electoral college and popular vote. Trump took all swing states despite being convicted of multiple felonies and his supporters storming Capitol building in January 2021.

As the Mirror reports the 47th President has been keen to be viewed as leading an active administration, having signed dozens of executive orders since coming into office on January 20. But Mr Carville said he believes the firebrand will tank his approval ratings with the American public.

Speaking with Mediatite’s Dan Abrams, Mr Carville said: “I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days is in the midst of a massive collapse and particularly a collapse in public opinion.” When asked to clarify what he meant by this, Mr Carville said he believed the administration was already crumbling about one month into the job.

“It’s collapsing right now,” he said. “We’re in the midst of a collapse. This is the lowest approval, not even close, that any president has ever had at a comparable time.”

Despite being convinced that Mr Trump’s administration would crumble, Mr Carville advised his fellow democrats to lay low and predicted Republicans would find it difficult to pass legislation without their support. “It’s going to be easy pickings here in six weeks. Just lay back,” he said. “We’re in the midst of a collapse. It’s over.”

Despite Mr Trump’s convincing election victory, the Republicans hold a razor thin majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate. The US is currently one month away from a possible government shutdown, where pay checks for soldiers, disaster-relief aid and aid to low-income Americans would be stopped.

Under the US law, the government cannot spend taxpayer money unless Congress agrees to spending packages for multiple programmes. But many Republicans are keen to limit the size of the federal government and might not vote in favour of keeping the government open.

The economy is among the chief concerns of the American public and helped elevate Mr Trump to the White House. But Mr Trump has made numerous controversial comments regarding foreign affairs, from blaming Ukraine for its ongoing war with Russia and turning Gaza into the Riviera.

Recent surveys have consistently shown Mr Trump’s approval rating has slipped below 50 per cent – practically unheard of one month after being inaugurated. Numerous polls have shown a majority of Americans disprove of the president with an average between four to six points.

But Mr Carville’s prediction should be taken with a hint of caution. The Democrat strategist previously revealed her was “certain” Ms Harris would win the 2024 Presidential Election, instead she suffered a convincing defeat.
