Bex Fowler is set to make an emotional comeback to EastEnders in the wake of her dad Martin Fowler’s death.

Jasmine Armfield, who portrays Bex, will return to the screen after a five-year hiatus for some heartrending scenes, amid another significant character is tipped to come back. Bex departed in 2020 to travel but now returns to mourn with her mum Sonia Fowler and other relatives in distress.

During Bex’s time away from the Square so much has gone on, from Martin reuniting with Ruby Allen and finding out he had a son, Roman, to his dying declaration of love to Stacey Slater. Then there’s her mum Sonia, who recently welcomed a baby daughter – just months after being imprisoned for a murder actually committed by her now -deceased fiancé, Reiss Colwell.

It was Reiss’ pub car crash, instigated by Cindy Beale, that led to the explosion taking Martin’s life. Viewers will soon see Bex grappling with her father’s tragic passing upon learning about it in upcoming heartbreaking episodes, reports the Mirror.

In the coming weeks, Bex decides to return for her father’s funeral, reuniting with her loved ones.

Actress Jasmine revealed all on her return, saying: “It’s wonderful to be back at EastEnders and to see so many familiar faces.

“It’s amazing for me to come home, but for Bex, it’s an absolutely devastating time because she’s lost her dad. She’s grown up a lot, having spent the past few years travelling, so we’re going to see a much more mature and grown-up version of Bex this time around.”

Additionally, soap boss Chris Clenshaw added: “We’re delighted to welcome Jasmine home to EastEnders as part of Martin’s farewell. There’s no way that Bex would miss her dad’s funeral, and Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever. It’s been five years in which Bex has gone out into the world, so she’ll come back with renewed wisdom and experience.”

However, Bex isn’t the only Fowler returning to Walford to say farewell to Martin. It has been confirmed her cousin, Vicki Fowler, will also be making a comeback to the Square after 20 years away from the show.

The role has been recast, as Vicki plans to stay in Walford with her new boyfriend Ross and his son, Joel. Vicki will be portrayed by Andor actress, Alice Haig.

Speaking about debut on the soap, Alice stated: “I am so excited. I have always watched the show, and I was born in February 1985, so I’m the same age as EastEnders!

It’s so cool to be playing a character like Vicki – we think we know her, but a lot has changed. I can’t wait for all the Albert Square drama ahead.”
