Helen Flannigan planned to enjoy a night out in a glamorous outfit with her new boyfriend Robbie Talbot and his daughter Sophie, 14. However, the former Corrie star couldn’t enjoy her fun night as she was mum-shamed on social media for deciding to go on a night out without her kids.
The evening agenda saw the trio head to the launch of the Kyma Nightclub in Crosby, reports the Mirror, which would allow Helen to get to know Robbie’s daughter more in a fun and laid back setting. Clearly enjoying her night out, Helen posted an adorable picture of her and Robbie eldest daughter on Instagram.
While both of them looked stunning in their black and red dresses, critics were quick to bash Helen for her decision to enjoy a night out without her own young children around. One troll wrote: “Where’s the boyfriend? Hope the kids are being looked after.”
However, many fans of the former I’m a Celeb contestant jumped to her defence and began to shoot down any mum-shaming as soon as it arose. One person even sarcastically wrote back: “No she left them alone. Jesus mums not allowed a night out!”
Another person defended Helen, commenting: “What the F is wrong with you? Its none of your business where her kids are!!!” While a third concurred, adding: “Would you say the same thing to a father? Get a grip.”
Another person was outraged by the troll’s snide comment, as they wrote: “Are you saying once a woman has children she can never leave the house???!!!” A fifth person had a similar question, adding: “Seriously??? Do you think women should be tied to the kitchen sink. Have you never gone out without your kids. Grow up.”
In order to not derail the sweet post, many fans flooded the comment section with compliments for both Helen and Sophie, with remarks such as: “You both are Absolutely Stunning” and “Gorgeous night”.
Helen shares three kids with her ex fiancé Scott Sinclair – Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie ages three. Her boyfriend Robby has Sophie and Carina, 10, from his previous relationship.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Helen has been mum-shamed by critics, as she was previously bashed for wearing a sheer lacy black bodysuit at the 2023 British Fashion Awards. Several fans made their opinions clear that they did not think it was an appropriate outfit for a mum.
At the time, one commenter wrote: “Think more of flashing your t*ts than your kids.” While a second added: “Why do we have to be half naked now to get attention? What happened to being classy? Looks like she has a lingerie set on, forgot the time then put on a skirt in a hurry.”
In spite of the trolls, Helen has made a definitive point of spending time with her kids away from the spotlight. She previously reflected on her close bond with her daughter Delilah, as she lovingly wrote: “She brings me so much happiness, very lucky to be her mama.”
