The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the body was found in the later stages of decomposition Sunday afternoon.

MANOR, Texas — An investigation is underway after a body was found alongside a road in Manor.

A caller told the Travis County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday that they found a body along Bitting School and Hogeye roads.

When deputies arrived, they found a man’s body concealed under a tarp. The sheriff’s office described the body as a man in his 40s who was in the later stages of decomposition.

The sheriff’s office said the identity of the body will not be released until a positive identification is made by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and next of kin has been notified.

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office said preliminary evidence suggests the body may have been a transient who was left on the side of the roadway after dying. The discovery is being investigated as a suspicious death, but detectives don’t believe there is a threat to the public.

Anyone with information on the discovery is asked to contact the sheriff’s office tip line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
