Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve figured out the identity of the mysterious figure in a hood at the close of Friday’s nail-biting episode.
As the show ended, a distraught Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) was seen weeping while she left Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) an emotional voicemail. During her message, a shadowy figure in a hoodie was spotted lurking as police departed the crash site, suggesting the body in the water has yet to be found.
“Hi, Nate. It’s me,” wept Tracy. “I don’t know what made me think I’d get through to you at this time, but maybe I was hoping you’d sense that I wanted to hear your voice.
“Look, whatever happened with us, whatever went wrong and…just…there was a crash and Suzy, Leyla and Amy, they all died. And I just…and I just miss you so much,” she sobbed before hanging up.
Before Amy Wyatt (Natalie Jamieson) met her untimely demise on Thursday night, she seemed to confirm it was Nate’s corpse in the water, reports Leeds Live.
Fans have been furiously speculating about the deceased, with many suggesting Nate was murdered and his remains were thrown into the lake.
Suspects tossed into the mix include Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) and John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). The motives are speculative at best; Caleb possibly bumped off Nate over his tryst with Tracy, and John is reportedly the last one to have sighted him.
At the conclusion of Friday’s episode, Caleb left Ruby (Beth Cordingly) with a cryptic message, saying he had “there was something he needed to do”.
Observant viewers noted he wore a dark hoody before exiting. Fans on a Facebook group began speculating, with one posting: “When Caleb left on tonight’s episode, he picked up a dark coloured hoodie and put it on and that’s what the person stood looking at the lake had on at the very end. “
Another concurred: “I think it was Caleb looking at the lake at the end..,” while a third added: “It looked like Caleb as he was wearing a dark hoody when he left Ruby.”
A simple “I think Caleb,” came from another fan.
The plot thickened as another fan mentioned: “That was a weird ending today. Tracy rang Nate and it went to answer phone, and then we saw the hand in the lake and the police driving off after they got Suzy out, so they’re still not any closer to finding Nate.”
This led to an intriguing theory from another viewer: “So, did Tracy kill Nate? ” which prompted a surprised reaction from another fan: “Why did I not think of this?”
