At 84, The Beatles’ iconic drummer Ringo Starr recently wowed fans with a dynamic performance at the legendary Grand OIe Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Touring to promote his latest album, Look Up – his first foray into country music since the 1970 release Beaucoups of Blues – Ringo’s appearance was a delightful surprise.
It was his energy that had attendees and online viewers echoing similar sentiments of amazement. Audiences were treated to an “amazing” rendition of The Beatles’ classic With a Little Help From My Friends, alongside other performances such as Time On My Hands with collaborator Molly Tuttle and a cover of Johnny Russell’s Act Naturally.
A video shared on X showcased Ringo performing the beloved Beatles tune, prompting comments on his seemingly age-defying demeanour. One social media user exclaimed: “Ringo looks younger every time I see him lol.”
Another complimented: “We hear a lot about Mick [Jagger], Keith [Richards], and Bruce [Springsteen], but damn, Ringo looks 50!!” A third person chimed in: “Ringo Starr is going to live forever.”
The admiration didn’t stop there, as many labelled Ringo a “legend” while discussing his stage presence during the ongoing tour for Look Up.
His youthful looks left several fans in awe, wondering about the secret behind his enduring vitality. One amused fan commented: “How does he look younger than me and I’m 33.”
Meanwhile, someone else was keen to express their joy, saying: “It is a treat to see Ringo Starr, 60 years removed from The Beatles’ appearance on Ed Sullivan, still looking healthy and spreading joy through song.”
Another person voiced their astonishment: “I always forget how old this dude is oh my.”
The Grand Ole Opry has long been an iconic show in the world of country music, hosting legends such Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley. This year, Ringo accepted an invitation to grace its stage and confirmed he would perform selections from Look Up.

In related news, Sir Paul McCartney referred to one of his acclaimed albums as a “throwaway” piece. Discussing his 1970 debut LP McCartney, Ringo’s former bandmate remarked: “They were almost throwaways, you know? But that’s why they were included.
“That was the whole idea of the album: all the normal things that you record that are great and have all this atmosphere but aren’t that good as recording or production jobs.”
He shared a sentiment many musicians can relate to, adding: “Normally, that stuff ends up with the rest of your demos, but all that stuff is often stuff I love.”
Among the tracks on the album is Maybe I’m Amazed, a song which has stood the test of time and featured in Sir Paul’s setlists during his recent Got Back tour.
