SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Zoo has announced they will temporarily close some of their bird exhibits over concerns about the bird flu.
The zoo says that preliminary test results from a dead wild vulture found on the grounds came back “non-negative” for Avian Influenza. The bird has been sent for further testing.
Now, out of an abundance of caution the zoo is temporarily closing Hixon Bird House, Lory Landing, and Flamingo Mingle.
Fish feeders will also be temporarily emptied, as fish food may attract wild birds.
Some birds in the zoo’s care will be relocated as well.
