Alex Rodriguez made a halfcourt shot at a Bucknell University men’s basketball game, winning $10,000 for a student on Sunday.
Rodriguez, wearing a bright orange Bucknell t-shirt, banked the shot in off the backboard at halftime of Bucknell’s eventual 84-53 win over Army. The shot set off pandemonium in Bucknell’s Sojka Pavilion, with several students rushing the court to celebrate with the slugger-turned-shooter.

The $10,000 went to Bucknell student Owen Garwood, a wide receiver on the school’s football team. Garwood, a Philadelphia native and Phillies fan, said he would use the money to help his parents cover his tuition.
“That is a beautiful thing,” the former Yankees star and ex-fiancé of Jennifer Lopez said. “Parents, you’re welcome! They should be Yankee fans, too. Owen’s a good boy, we won together today.”

Rodriguez, 49, was at the game alongside his business partners, Marc Lore and Jordy Leiser. The three men spoke at an event earlier that day in an academic building on the school’s campus in Lewisburg, Pa.
Lore and Leiser are both graduates of Bucknell, and Leiser is on the school’s board of trustees. Together with Rodriguez, they founded Jump Platforms, a ticketing application. Lore and Rodriguez are also the biggest names in a group that recently purchased the Minnesota Timberwolves.
