BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay has had to say sorry following a minor road rage incident on his way to the studio.
The 50-year-old host opened up about his regrettable confrontation with a cyclist during Monday’s broadcast of his popular show.
Vernon, while recounting why he was running late, shared that he lost his temper in front of a train station crowd but clarified he didn’t swear at the cyclist, though he was ashamed of his public outburst. He expressed his embarrassment and guilt, even more so because he’ll have to face the regular bystanders again.
Vernon said: “I was late today because I’m in a routine, I’m in a really good routine. I get up I leave the house at about either 25 to or 20 to and I casually go to the station. I was late.
“I don’t know why I was late, I think my porridge took longer than normal today so I didn’t leave the house until late and then I got a bit of road rage with a fella on a bicycle which I felt really guilty about because everyone saw me shouting at him in front of the station, regulars, that’s a bit embarrassing.
“I didn’t swear though, just lost my mind. Thing is I’ve got to see him again tomorrow and then the day after and then the day after.”
Earlier in the month, Vernon divulged details about his multiple-breakfast morning routine, which is part of his new health “regime” to stay fit as he progresses through his 50s, reports the Manchester Evening News.
At the beginning of the month, before one of his shows, he confessed: “Well, I did something that I feel really guilty (but not really) about this morning.
“I went the Golden Arches (McDonald’s) and I doubled down as well. I had some porridge as well. I started to kickstart my day with porridge; get me carbs in early.
“I’ve had three so far. I’m trying to get my calories up. I know, I’m trying to get my calories up and then I’ll trim them down for summer – for my holiday; for my Speedos. I am on a regime!”
