TYSONS CORNER, Va. (WWBT) – Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin unveiled a new support resource package for federal workers on Monday.
The “Virginia Has Jobs” initiative comes amid a wave of uncertainty for federal employees after President Trump’s administration issued thousands of layoffs nationwide.
Youngkin said the state will offer resources to help federal employees transition into new roles if they “experience job dislocation.”
“I don’t believe that the federal government downsizing is wrong, and in fact, we need to press forward and drive efficiencies in our federal government. And as a result of driving those efficiencies, I do expect that some Virginians will lose their jobs,” Youngkin said.
Virginia officials say there are more than 250,000 open jobs across the state.
