The first meeting of the Crocketford SWI’s 2025 schedule was held at Garden Wise in Dumfries.
President Judi Shaw welcomed members and guests to an afternoon with outdoor manager Laura who helped lead members through planting colourful pots ready for spring. This was followed by a planting demonstration in the conservatory.
Laura talked about how to choose the right plants and how to get the best displays for the season. She then did a Q&A session about all things gardening.
Members enjoyed the afternoon so much that they are planning a further visit in late spring to see how the outside planning and storage takes place.
The competition for the meeting was a colouring in picture of a flower and Laura judged the winners – 1 Margaret Binks who received a small planter of a primrose from Laura; 2 Bessie McClelland; 3 Judi Shaw.
Business was completed accompanied with a very welcome cup of tea.
Ann Botel were gave a vote of thanks to Laura and Garden Wise for giving members such as lovely afternoon.
The next meeting on March 10 will take place at Crocketford Village Hall at 7.30pm with a hands-on craft session of macrame. Visitors welcome.
