Dear Daily Record reader,
The Daily Record is Scotland’s Champion. We are proud to use our creative talents to shine a light on social injustice, hold government to account and celebrate the brilliance and bravery of our readers.
But tech companies want to use the Daily Record’s online content to train their artificial intelligence systems.
The UK Government is deciding whether to let these companies use creative content by the Record and other publishers without permission, unless we specifically say “no”.
Our fearless reporting has changed the law on drug use in Scotland, unmasked criminals, ushered in political change and celebrated the country’s local and sporting heroes. That content should be cherished not stolen by tech giants.
The Daily Record demands that the government ensures fair pay for the work that powers AI.
