New College Lanarkshire this week launched its ground-breaking digital campus – The Learning Well.
The online platform is designed to help prospective students fit studying for a degree around family and work commitments and it first initiative of its kind in Lanarkshire.
Almost a hundred students have now enrolled to study a BA in Business and Leadership, a course supported and accredited by the University of the West of Scotland.
North Lanarkshire has the second lowest number of adults with degrees of any council area in Scotland and New College Lanarkshire Principal and CEO Professor Christopher Moore said that wasn’t acceptable.
He said: “The Learning Well has immediately extended the reach of our College to people who would otherwise not be able to learn and grow with us.
“We have 92 people who have enrolled for our new degree in Business and Leadership. Our new students would not have been able to join New College Lanarkshire had it not been for this innovative development.
“This week’s launch is a huge moment for NCL, creating a new model for delivering education to new student groups. Our students can look forward to an excellent online learning environment supported by our outstanding expert lecturers.”
Students will have access to a dedicated online environment, expert lecturers, a supportive environment with dedicated mentorship and a curriculum blending practical and academic knowledge, ensuring participants are well-prepared for success.
One of the first students Laura Grant said she applied because she believes it’s a great opportunity to enhance her professional development.
She went on: “It will also undoubtedly help me achieve my future career goals. The fact that the course is entirely online appeals because it allows me to study the course whilst also working full-time.”
