Scots were treated to a rare sight as the Red Arrows flew over parts of the country when they made their way north for training.
The famous aerobatics display team made a scheduled journey from their base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire to RAF Lossiemouth in Moray on Monday, February 24, ahead of training in the Highlands this week for their 2025 display season.
With the route published ahead of time, Scots were waiting on the ground in the hope of catching a glimpse of the red, white and blue jets. Many were successful in capturing them as they flew over in formation, and shared their pictures on social media.
Locals in Lossiemouth were also out in force, waiting for the moment they landed at the air base at around 2pm.

A video posted on Facebook shows all nine jets approaching together before putting on a display, breaking away and performing loops.
Other pictures show them flying over the area in perfect formation, with streams of white vapour in their wake.
Scots further south were also lucky enough to capture them as they roared over, with people in Perthshire and the Borders also sharing their impressive snaps.

In a statement shared to Facebook last week, the air base said: “Back to Scotland for the first time this year!
“The RAF Red Arrows will be operating out of RAF Lossiemouth next week (w/c 24th Feb) to train in the Highlands ahead of their 2025 display season.
“Please note: This is not a display notice and the RAFAT will be flying in/out of Lossiemouth in order to train in the Highlands.”

The team’s training schedule while in the Highlands is largely unknown, but locals in the small town of Tain have reported seeing them practising nearby. A flying display rehearsal is expected to take place at RAF Lossiemouth on Thursday morning, subject to weather conditions.
The jets are expected to return to RAF Waddington on Friday, February 28.
It comes after Chinook and Puma military helicopters were spotted training over the Central Belt earlier this month. Locals in some areas were left stunned after feeling their homes “shake” and witnessing some of the choppers carrying military trucks and guns while flying overhead.
