A good television is a staple for every house. With the advances in both hardware and software in recent years, high-quality TVs with access to a whole host of streaming apps have become the norm.
But as technology moves so quickly, many of us do not want to be left behind. And when it comes to our TVs, we want to make sure our gogglebox is up there with the best, considering how much we enjoy a bit of binge-watching.
And if you are able to pick up a bit of a bargain when you are getting a new telly, all the better. One such deal that we have spotted is for the Sony Bravia XR OLED Smart TV, which has had £550 slashed off its price by Amazon.

As part of a limited-time deal, the 48-inch Sony Bravia is currently on offer for £1,349 – down 29 per cent from its RRP of £1,899. Sony promise “immersive picture quality” thanks to the TV’s cognitive processor, which recreates programmes “the same way humans see and hear in the real world”.
It boasts two actuators and a subwoofer to create “sound that moves with the picture” for “astonishing sound quality”. Sony claim the Bravia XR OLED TV is “perfect for PlayStation 5”, with its “ultra-responsive and smooth gameplay” meaning it is ideal for gamers.
It’s not just Sony that are waxing lyrical about the telly, as Amazon shoppers have been left delighted with their purchase. It boasts a 4.3 rating on the Amazon website and has racked up over 100 five-star reviews.

One happy customer described the Sony Bravia as “an outstanding TV that delivers on every level”. They added: “The picture quality is breathtaking, with deep, rich blacks and vivid, lifelike colors that make watching anything feel immersive. The OLED technology shines through, and the XR Cognitive Processor takes everything to the next level with incredible clarity and detail.”
Someone else agreed, saying: “An outstanding viewing experience with its exceptional picture quality. The colors are vibrant, and the contrast is impressive, with deep blacks and bright whites. The sound, powered by the Acoustic Surface Audio system, is clear and immersive for built-in speakers.”

A third buyer said it was “love at first sight” after picking up the Bravia. They said: “The picture quality is just jaw-dropping. The QD-OLED technology delivers colors that are so vibrant and lifelike, I often feel like I’m peering through a window rather than watching TV. The 4K HDR makes everything pop, whether I’m watching a nature documentary or the latest blockbuster. It’s like every pixel is working overtime to make the experience as immersive as possible.”
Speaking about gaming, they added: “For gamers, especially those with a PlayStation 5, this TV is a game-changer. The BRAVIA CORE ensures that games look incredible, with seamless edge design and minimal lag. I’ve never seen my games look so smooth and detailed.”
However, not everyone was as impressed. One person, who gave it a two-star review, wrote: “Software not very responsive and after a few days won’t connect to WiFi. Says it can’t find WiFi, even though I have a 500mb fibre optical connection, which works perfectly with everything else. So far not a great experience.”
