BECKLEY, W.Va. -Deputy Chief David Allard announced the retirement of one of the Beckley Police Department’s K9 officers.

“The Beckley Police Department is saddened to announce the retirement of K9 Ora, who has dedicated over eight years of service to the community under the guidance of her handler, Sergeant Capehart,” said a press release by Chief Deputy Allard.

K9 Ora led officers to hundreds or arrest, the seizure of over 1.5 million dollars worth of drugs, and the recovery of hundreds of illegally possessed firearms.

“K9 Ora has been an invaluable asset to our department,” said a press release by Chief Deputy Allard.

K9 Ora joined the Beckley Police Department in 2016 and will now spend her retirement with her handler Sergeant Capehart.

The Beckley Police Department extends its deepest gratitude to K9 Ora for her years of faithful service.
