BRENHAM, Texas — Police in Brenham announced an update after issuing a warning about a man seen handing out yellow roses to women at a local Walmart.

“We have identified the person of interest and he is cooperating with investigators. There is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing, and all at the Brenham PD and the City of Brenham thank the public for their quick assistance,” police said in a statement released to KHOU 11 News.

Since no charges have been filed, the man’s photo has been removed from this story.

In a post on their social media page, the women had reportedly experienced sudden illnesses. 

According to Brenham police, the incidents occurred at the Walmart just off Highway 290. Authorities released photos on the department’s Facebook page showing the unidentified man holding flowers.

Police did not specify what type of illness the women experienced.

Police urged the community to remain vigilant and advised people to avoid accepting flowers from strangers. Anyone who received roses and then felt ill was encouraged to seek medical attention immediately and report the incident to law enforcement.
